Corey Seager's Status Unclear After Sports Hernia Surgery

Texas Rangers Shortstop Undergoes Surgery, Future Uncertain

Rangers GM Chris Young Addresses Media After Procedure

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager underwent surgery to repair a left sports hernia on Tuesday, raising questions about his availability for the upcoming season. Rangers general manager Chris Young addressed reporters following the procedure, but provided limited information regarding Seager's status and recovery timeline.

Seager initially exited Saturday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles after being struck around the hand-wrist area. The Rangers subsequently placed him on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. However, further evaluation revealed the sports hernia, which ultimately required surgical intervention.

Young acknowledged the seriousness of the injury but remained optimistic about Seager's recovery. "Corey is a tough kid and he's determined to return as soon as possible," Young said. "We're going to take it one day at a time and see how he responds to rehab."
