Mumbai Rains: Heavy Downpour Leads to Waterlogging, Train Services Disrupted

IMD Issues Orange Alert

The Indian Meterological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall for the city on Friday. The city has already witnessed over 300 mm of rainfall at several places in just six hours from 1 am.

Waterlogging and Traffic Disruptions

The heavy rains have led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, including Kurla station on the Harbour line. Suburban train services have been disrupted, with the down line from Wadala to Mankhurd section closed as a safety measure.

Emergency Meeting

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held an emergency meeting to take stock of the flood situation in the Ratnagiri and Raigad districts. The meeting was attended by officials from the disaster management department and other relevant authorities.

Conclusion

The heavy downpour in Mumbai has caused significant disruption to daily life, leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion, and train cancellations. The IMD has issued an orange alert, indicating that the rainfall is likely to continue. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this severe weather event.
