Hamilton Takes Podium Spot
Carlos Sainz of Ferrari has claimed his first Formula One victory at the 2022 British Grand Prix. The Spanish driver started from pole position and held off a strong challenge from Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton to secure the win.
Hamilton, who had been a contender for victory throughout the race, settled for third place behind Sainz and Sergio Perez of Red Bull. Despite missing out on the win, Hamilton earned an additional point for setting the fastest lap of the race.
Sainz's victory is a significant milestone for the 27-year-old driver. It is his first win in Formula One and comes in his 150th race start. The victory also marks the first time a Ferrari driver has won a race since the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix.
