The Academy Awards have long been dominated by Disney, but in recent years, other studios have begun to make their mark in the Best Animated Feature category. In 2013, Brenda Chapman became the first woman to win for Brave. After his win in 2023, Guillermo del Toro became the first filmmaker to win both the Best Animated Feature and Best Picture Oscars. And in 2023, Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki became the first person to win the award twice, for Spirited Away and The Wind Rises.
This year's race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years, with a number of strong contenders from both Disney and other studios. Here are some of the frontrunners:

- Hugh Jackman
- Samantha Barks
- Sacha Baron Cohen
- Russell Crowe
